ABS-CBN wins big in the 7th USTv awards

MANILA, Philippines – Broadcast giant ABS-CBN has again proved its wealth of value-oriented shows by bringing home a total of 15 recognitions in the USTv Awards held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Thursday night.

Studio 23’s UAAP coverage brought home the Best Sports Program while MYX got the best Music Channel.

Versatile actress Angelica Panganiban was recognized as the students’ choice Best Actress and drama actor Coco Martin, on the other hand, was tagged as the students’ choice of Best Actor.

Other awards in the entertainment category are “The Buzz” as the Best Entertainment News Show; “Maalaala Mo Kaya” as the Best Drama Program; “ASAP XV” as the Best Variety Show; and “Agua Bendita” as the Best Local Daily Show.

Kapamilya network’s “He is Beautiful” bagged the Best Foreign Soap Opera.

Also, Boy Abunda’s “The Bottomline” won the Best Talk Show Program.

Meanwhile, Juris Fernandez’s “Di Lang Ikaw” was the students’ choice for the Best Local Music Video group.

For the News and Current Affairs categories, “Salamat Dok” was honored as the Best Public Service Program and “Matanglawin” as the Best Educational Program.

Multi-awarded broadcast journalists Ted Failon and Karen Davila both won the students’ choice for Male and Female News and Current Affairs Program Hosts.

The USTV Student’s Choice Awards is an award giving body led by the Office of the Secretary General of UST.

It aims to give recognition to programs and personalities that promote Thomasian values and in harmony with the Catholic teachings.

The celebration of this year's USTv is part of UST's commemoration of the university's 400 years of existence.
