Team Sarah hopefuls perform 'Thousand Miles'
MANILA - Musika Caubang, Gab Gomez, and Mitz Tanguilan competed for a chance to represent the team of Sarah Geronimo in the next round of "The Voice Kids" during the episode aired on Saturday.
The group of three performed one of Geronimo's favorite song --Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" -- for the first round of the night's Battles.
Coach Bamboo Manalac was quick to heap praise on all three but singled out Gomez, whom he lauded for bringing a soulful touch to the very widely-known pop song.
"Hindi ka malinaw noong una pero I figured it out what you were kinda doing in the end, you were going for a more soulful...and it was beautiful," he said.
Coach Lea Salonga was more critical of the young singer, saying she did some changes to the song that were not needed.
"Gab, if I'm going to leave you with one criticism, mayroon kang mga ginawang adlib sa huli na hindi mo naman kinailangan gawin kasi nga 'yung boses mo sobrang rich na siya eh," she said.
In the end, Geronimo decided to go with Gomez.
"Rich na rich ang boses mo. 'Yun ang kinaibahan mo sa dalawa at 'yung atake mo sa kanta is very soulful," she said to the young singer, who was in tears after the announcement.
"Yung song na iyon para sa lolo ko," Gomez said.
"The Voice Kids," hosted by Luis Manzano and Alex Gonzaga, airs Saturdays at 6:45 p.m. and on Sundays at 7:30 p.m.
