MANILA, Philippines - The rivals for the last Senate seat in the 2007 elections will both wield Vice President Jejomar Binay’s flag in the next elections.

Binay told reporters that former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri will carry his flag in the 2013 senator elections.

“Ah oo. Si Senator Migz e labis labis naman ang kakayahan, biruin mo first time niya sa Senate at naging majority floor leader at dating congressman,” he said.

Former Senator Ernesto Maceda also earlier revealed that incumbent Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III will be joining the slate.

Asked for comment, Binay said: “Magkasama sila sa slate ang mga natatanging pinuno ng Mindanao.”

Zubiri resigned from the Senate in August last year following accusations of fraud in the 2007 elections, but insisted the allegations were "unfounded."

Pimentel filed an election protest after Zubiri snatched the 12th and last senatorial post in 2007.

After Zubiri resigned, Pimentel was proclaimed senator.

Paki-esplika.
