3 Pinoy teachers die as fire hits Qatar mall
Three Filipino teachers were among 19 people killed in a fire that struck a mall in Doha, Qatar on Monday.
Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Crescente Relacion identified the Filipino fatalities as Maribel Orosco, Margie Yecyec and Julie Ann Soco. All of them died of asphyxiation.
The three Filipinos were teachers at the Villagio Mall’s Gympanzee Nursery School, where the fire reportedly began at around 11:30 a.m. Doha time.
Michael Orosco, brother of Maribel, survived the fire and was rushed to Hamad Hospital after inhaling smoke.
The Philippine embassy has started coordinating with the families of the Filipino teachers for the repatriation of their remains.
